Job Summary

The Chief Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations, as well as company policies and procedures within a Part 145 repair station. This position will oversee the entire quality control and inspection process, manage quality assurance personnel, and ensure that all aircraft components meet the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Inspections: Perform Incoming, Preliminary, In-Process, Hidden Damage, and
    Final Inspections of aircraft components.
  • Complete FAA Documentation: Prepare and complete FAA Form 8130-3 Airworthiness Approval Tags as required under 14 CFR Part 21.
  • Inspection Oversight: Supervise inspection personnel and assist them in daily tasks.
  • Documentation Management: Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance, materials, and inspections before part shipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all FAA/EASA regulations, including 14 CFR Parts 21, 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145, OEM technical data, and Repair Station Manuals (RSQM).
  • Customer Requirements: Understand and implement maintenance practices that meet the specific regulatory requirements of Part 121 and Part 135 operators.
  • Capabilities Management: Collaborate with the Engineering Department to oversee the repair station’s capabilities list and ensure compliance with FAA regulations.
  • Quality Programs Maintenance: Maintain calibration, traceability, shelf life, and scrap programs.
  • Standards Development: Develop and oversee quality standards, methods, and procedures.
  • Policy Development: Collaborate with the Accountable Manager to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Training Management: Collaborate with the Repair Department to manage and conduct all required training sessions per the Training Program Manual.
  • Employee Development: Establish programs to enhance employees’ technical skills and regulatory knowledge.
  • Program Administration: Oversee the Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program.
  • Audits: Conduct internal audits and oversee audits of approved contractors.
  • Corrective Actions: Manage the Corrective Action Program to address and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Liaison Role: Act as the liaison with the FAA and represent the repair station during audits.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment per OSHA standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, logistics, and repair teams to align operations with quality objectives.
Job Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Aviation Sciences, Quality Systems, or related field, or
    equivalent experience.
  • Licenses: Valid Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Part 145 repair station.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of FAA/EASA regulations, including 14
    CFR Parts 21, 43, 65, 91, 121, 135, and 145.
  • Customer-Focused: Understanding of maintenance requirements for Part 121 and Part
    135 operators.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership and management experience in quality
    assurance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in computer systems and software used in quality
    management.
  • Communication Skills: Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Compliance: Ability to pass background checks and drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Additional certifications in quality management or aviation safety.

Salary

$100,000 - $125,000 Final salary for this role will be determined upon fit with job requirements.
