Role Summary
The Director Fleet Strategy and Planning is the senior leader evaluating Alaska’s long-term fleet strategy and asset strategies to enable optimal financial outcomes. As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction to a team of Fleet professionals to ensure Alaska’s Fleet strategy balances and supports its Commercial, Financial, and Operational goals. This role is considered the subject matter expert and thought leader in developing and executing the company’s fleet plan while maintaining flexibility and alternative plans as the business environment changes.
Key Duties
Leads development and updates to the company’s fleet strategy that aligns with Commercial growth and financial goals.
Directs process to purchase new or used aircraft and sale of surplus aircraft to support company’s fleet plans.
Leverages industry experience and relationships to identify and select partners, serving as Alaska / Horizon’s focal to negotiate commercial terms, review purchase/sale/lease agreements, and drive multi-million dollar transactions to conclusion.
Cultivates and owns the commercial relationship with the company’s aircraft manufacturers and lessors.
Identifies and evaluates strategic opportunities, providing recommendations to executive leadership for fleet transactions including leasing, purchasing, dispositions, and other ad hoc initiatives.
Partners with Commercial products team to evaluate and implement optimal onboard products.
Provides leadership to internal and external resources required to support fleet strategy and transaction activities.
Leads and executes cross divisionally – including Network/Schedule Planning, Maintenance and Engineering, and other relevant stakeholders – to develop fleet strategies that meet Air Group’s goals.
Leads and coaches a team that supports the development and execution of fleet planning and acquisitions.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
8 years of experience in fleet strategy, network planning, finance, aircraft procurement/sales or closely related field.
5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 of those years directly leading people.
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in finance, economics, aviation, engineering or a related discipline.
Expertise in aviation and commercial aircraft, high dollar value negotiations, and strategic planning.
Proven track record of developing and sustaining strong relationships with external partners.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
Knowledge of airline commercial and operation areas.
Direct experience in either airline Fleet strategy/planning or Network planning

Salary Range
$157,700 - $252,300 / year
Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$206,810 - $329,790
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We dont typically hire at the top of the range.
