The Director of Maintenance assumes the accountability for leading a full site MRO facility in the De Havilland Manufacturing/MRO asset cluster (as defined from time to time).  The Director of Maintenance retains full site accountability including functions such as operations, planning, tooling, as well as dotted line reporting from supporting functions including finance, supply chain, human resources, IT, and others. This positions has primary responsibility for ensuring the execution of of the short-term and mid-term strategies for the site.  Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure that the business remains aligned to the overall direction and business goals of the Aerostructures/MRO group, and that the appropriate metrics are clearly defined, communicated to, and understood by, the management team and the underlying operational teams Ensure there is in place a, robust health and safety plan, committees and process to ensure best practice adherence and attitues towards the safety and well being of our employeesEnsure the site remains compliant with all applicable regulations (including Transport Canada), standards and applicable lawsLeads the development of employees and culture by ensuring development and execution of site training initiatives; performance management / development plans; mentor/develop future leaders within the group for successionEnsure the management team utilizes key metrics to measure their business overall and have in place KPIs for each of the critical functional areas within the site itselfEnsure the site has executable action plans in place to support both mid - and short-term business plans Implement, maintain and execute a comprehensive reporting system ensuring a consistency in reporting metrix and how measures are calculated Establish and reinforce positive, respectful, transparent communications and interactions Additional AccountabilitiesCoordinate activities within the site to ensure efficient inter/intra-site processes, movement of goods, movement of resources, allocation of work and product, and trouble shoot conflicts arising from such processes/movementEnsure appropriate resourcing is in place to execute the organization’s strategies including developing and monitoring site workforce plansProvide senior management with advice on the financial implications of business activities and prioritiesEnsure that the business has thorough but efficient processes for financial forecasting, budgets and reportingProvide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities; makes recommendations on capital expenditures, providing informational inputs for business cases Prepare ad hoc, as necessary, and routine reporting for management including financial performance; progress against plans; identification of material risks and mitigation strategies thereon; and others as requestedMaintains awareness of both external and internal competitive environment, opportunities for expansion, customers, new spanets, industry developments, and other relevant spanet dataQualificationsValid M1 or M2 licenseAerospace / Aviation related degree and/or equivalent experience / education combination8+ years in progressively responsible aviation / aerospace leadership roles, preferably in an environment of constant change and evolutionPrior experience in financial analysis and reporting, preferably in an MRO environment, is a requirementPrior experience in assessing improvement and optimization opportunities and making appropriate recommendationsSuperior planning and analysis ability in complex multi-project organizationTravel will be required, therefore the successful candidate must maintain the ability to legally travel both domestically and internationally.Successful applicant must be eligible to attain and hold Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
