Strategic Channel & BD Director - APAC
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This role will report to Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, Global Regions and will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
With Channel partners playing a pivotal role in scaling our commercial capabilities, we have created a dedicated new role to grow business with our Strategic Channels across SBGs and GBEs in APAC. This role will partner with the SBG business leaders and regional leaders to develop growth plans that can accelerate growth of these accounts 2-3 x that of industry, and unlock growth in new verticals, segments and geographies. This role will also drive channels GDM across APAC and support development of overall regional strategy.
RESPONSIBILITES
This role will report to the Honeywell President for APAC and matrix report to the Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer of Global Regions. The role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The person will have responsibility for developing and executing the growth strategies for all of Honeywell’s Strategic Business Groups (SBGs) in the region. Specifically, responsibilities include:
- Lead Regional Strategy and Business Development (including major pursuits, strategic accounts, partnerships and localization initiatives)
- Lead the annual Strategic Planning (STRAP) process for APAC; in collaboration with local and global SBG leaders, define and drive implementation in APAC.
- Partner with Global Regions Strategy & BD leaders to identify areas for Global Regions wide leverage, including cross-regional growth initiatives and best practices sharing
- Provide cross-business line and cross-divisional leadership in the areas of strategy formulation, country analysis, industry/spanet analysis, competitor benchspaning, and strategic alliances/partnerships
- Apply strategic insight and analytical rigor to drive deep-dive spanet assessments and business case analyses of new, breakthrough growth opportunities and emerging/disruptive industry trends
- Work hand-in-hand with local and global business leaders to develop executable action plans that support the strategic direction
- Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching for other members of the Strategy & BD team
- Support M&A development and integration in APAC

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of post-university work experience, including a combination of strategy/management consulting experience at a top-tier firm, plus at least 3-5 years of “hands-on” operational experience at a global MNC in the industrial and/or high-tech sectors
- Deep APAC spanet knowledge with exposure to/prior experience in other emerging spanet countries highly desired
- Industry knowledge and experience in manufacturing, industrial and/or resources, aerospace, automotive, electronics and/or chemicals sectors
- Experience beyond strategy, e.g. prior roles in Channel Excellence, Product spaneting, Sales, Business development, and other client-facing organizations would be strongly preferred. Software and digital spaneting experience a plus
- Outstanding ability to quickly identify and define business questions and frame key issues
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, including financial modeling, scenario planning and assessment, value analysis, and customer segmentation
- Comfortable managing multiple, complex projects and changing priorities, while making sound decisions in a highly dynamic environment
- Ability to influence peer group, forge solid relationships and manage across a broad and geographically dispersed business and organization
- Highly motivated, assertive, energetic, with superior communication skills
- Demonstrated an in-depth understanding of western business practices/ organizational dynamics and APAC business practices, culture, societal dynamics
- Fluency in English is required
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from a leading international business school is preferred but not required
- Undergraduate and/or master’s degree in engineering is highly preferred but not required
