Reports to: Head of Group Safety

Cathay Pacific is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Safety Manager - Operational Safety to join our team. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for ensuring and enhancing airline safety across the organization. The successful candidate will oversee the effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) and drive a culture of safety excellence

• Safety Leadership and Oversight: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Operational Safety team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Risk Management and Investigations: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and investigations of incidents, serious incidents, and accidents to identify potential safety hazards and develop effective mitigation strategies
• Accident Investigation Team Leadership: Lead the Group’s Company Accident Investigation Team (CAIT) and participate in the investigation of safety accidents or incidents
• Safety Reporting and Analysis: Review safety reports, incident data, and safety-related information to extract valuable insights and lessons learned
• Safety Performance Monitoring: Monitor safety events and trends, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing preventive measures
• Emerging Safety Issues Identification: Regularly analyze collected data to identify trends and patterns that may indicate emerging safety issues, and proactively address potential risks before they escalate
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and industry associations
• Safety Action Implementation: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the prompt implementation of safety actions and recommendations
• Safety Management System (SMS) Implementation and Safety Culture Promotion: Oversee the effective implementation of the SMS, promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization by fostering awareness, accountability, continuous improvement, and comprehensive safety training and communication
• Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through data analysis, trending, and benchspaning

• Minimum of 8 years of work experience in the airline industry or aviation safety, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity
• Tertiary qualification, preferably a technical degree in aviation
• Strong leadership abilities to inspire and motivate teams
• Proven track record in driving safety initiatives and achieving measurable improvements in safety performance
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills
• Prior engagement with regulatory authorities
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in data analysis
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Extensive operational knowledge across multiple business areas
• Experience in leading safety investigations and risk assessments; expertise in Safety Management System and Aviation Accident Investigation
