Synopsis
Manager Datalink - ACARS reports to the Manager Aircraft Datalink & Sys. Engineering. The Datalink - ACARS is responsible for management of the development and maintenance of Aircraft Data Link and Ground Integration systems, Interface Layers in terms of performance, enhancements, functional specifications, and overall administration requirements for Operations users
Accountabilities
- Knowledge and understanding of Operational and Optimization concepts, systems and processes of Aircraft to Ground communications (ACARS - Datalink, SATCOM)
- Optimization of downlink/uplinks through AIRCOM Server
- Develop software to meet specific business requirements, reduce cost from customizations provided by our vendors.
- Ensure the supported systems are performing as expected and resolve problems raised during the normal function of the system.
- Anticipate any problems that could arise and pro-actively address them. Provide status update to the end users and stakeholders.
- Provide system reports that include information about up time, issues logged, issue resolved, overall support status, cost efficiency progress and implementation/enhancements status report.
- Ensure the system documentations are available for all parties involved and up to date including configuration management across the fleet, QA processes, end users’ manuals, administration manuals and system/architecture documents.
- Manage new projects related to systems mentioned above and ensure they are successfully implemented containing the necessary functionality to meet the EY business needs, through attending specific training and conferences, liaising with the vendors, participating in reviews, and hands on testing of the system.
- Ensure the systems supported are permanently optimized by monitoring the datalink and communication invoice and data consumption in order to reduce operation costs while increasing efficiency. Ensuring maximum benefit is obtained from the operations systems supported.
Education & Experience
- Aviation related degree or bachelor’s degree in information management/engineering/computer scienc
- Software development background in Flight Operations Systems
- 787/777 GBST Training
- AIRCOM Server Admin Course
- AOC Airbus training
