Role Summary

The EBU (Engine Build Up) Shops Manager role is responsible for executing on the strategy for ensuring operational excellence and reliability through our engine component and line maintenance program. As a people leader, this role leads and establishes priorities for a group of Engine Teams in support of Shop requirements, Base Maintenance, and Line Maintenance teams.

Key Duties

  • Lead team and establish priorities for daily and long-range EBU operational requirements and ensures compliance with all governing Federal, local, and AS regulations affecting operations at assigned stations.

  • Manage the repair, overhaul, and/or modification of Engine parts/components, including communications with The Vendor performance team to ensure outsourced items are tracked and returned to service on time.

  • Manage strategic goals for in-shop repairs while ensuring Rotable support is in place for timely and accurate return to service of parts, Engines, and aircraft.

  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure high standards of performance are maintained in the areas of safety, cost, quality, and labor relations.

  • Creates clear channels of communication to ensure all staff are well informed about departmental and company issues and decisions.

  • Drive adherence to established manufacturer and company preventative maintenance programs.

  • Forecasts and budgets operational needs and personnel requirements.

  • Evaluates processes, procedures, and equipment changes.

  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures to ensure continued improvement of the EBU shops.

  • Determines work priorities and ensures timely accomplishment of all maintenance functions.

  • Build business cases or procure tooling/equipment/supplies to ensure the work force is adequately resourced.

  • Ensure business partner(s) maintain an appropriate repair program that provides timely return to service.

  • Partners with stations on performance and corrective measures relative to the team.

  • Collaborate with Safety Leaders on various initiatives that enhance the delivery of safe and reliable equipment.

  • Acts as a vendor liaison to the supply department to ensure an adequate stock of spare parts, supplies, and routine expendable items are readily available to support engine maintenance needs.

  • Maintain TRAX compliance, training compliance, as well as administer the overtime program and reports.

  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on delegation for stretch assignments, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, looking at performance across the team, and time management.

  • Drive effective diversity, equity and inclusion practices to build a culture of belonging while actively supporting and executing on the company’s D&I initiatives, goals and commitments.

  • Shape culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience of aircraft maintenance or related area.

  • 2 years of leadership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

  • Requires FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as partner with others at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure.

  • Strong critical reasoning, judgement, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 50

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary Range

$139,700 - $209,500 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
