​This job is a member of the Legal team within the American Airlines Credit Union. The role is responsible for managing the BSA Administrators and working closely with the Compliance Director & BSA Officer to implement and administer the Credit Unions BSA program.

What youll do
  • Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the BSA area
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff by setting goals and objectives and assist staff with work progress
  • Establish and maintain appropriate investigation review and reporting process that promotes consistent decision making, adequate investigation and research, and complete and detailed documentation
  • Ensure compliance with Customer Due Diligence program
  • Ensure all required regulatory reporting is compliant including the filing of CTRs, SARs, as well as Misspelled WordFinCEN 314(a) and all other BSA/AML and OFAC regulatory reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate and updated BSA department policies and procedures
  • Assist Director of Compliance & BSA Officer with internal and external audits, compliance reviews and regulatory examinations, and with updates and implementation of BSA department policies, procedures and processes
  • Review BSA work items and provides feedback and training to staff; ensures work items are corrected, when necessary
  • Coordinate, direct and document monthly BSA committee meetings
  • Prepare monthly BSA Board of Directors meeting report for Director of Compliance & BSA Officer review
  • Analyze and implement process improvements to further enhance BSA program
  • Work on additional projects and other duties as assigned
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelors degree or a combination of education and work experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions
  • Certified BSA accreditation
  • Experience with the operation of BSA/AML detection system
  • Previous experience with BSA/AML and OFAC
  • Previous banking or Credit Union experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Previous management or supervisory experience
  • Experience with Credit Union systems

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
  • Ability to demonstrate superior people management, interpersonal and employee engagement skills, to include directing, coaching, counseling and motivating staff
  • Ability to supervise multiple staff personnel
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously with and work effectively under pressure and strict deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate strong research, critical thinking, analytical, database management, statistical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions by exercising independent judgment and capacity for attention to detail, and must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize and present findings in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to exercise flexibility, and able to work as part of a team and independently and be able to work and communicate with all levels of management and non-management
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent leadership and training skills and resourcefully solve problems and maximize resources
  • Ability to elicit confidence and build rapport with staff
  • Ability to travel overnight as needed
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
  • Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
