Role PurposeAccountable in promoting harmonious working relationship among employees, Unions and related Government authorities, as well as overseas stations to promote and maintain industrial harmony in line with Company vision, mission and strategy.
Key Accountability- Technical Advisory on Trade Unions - Act as the main contact for Management on matters related to trade unions. Advise on collective bargaining, union negotiations, and policy changes. Ensure company policies align with employment laws in Malaysia and other regions where possible.
- Labour Law and Compliance - Provide Human Capital Business Partners (HCBPs) legal advice and identifying risks in company initiatives. Help ensure consistent and fair handling of industrial relations (IR) matters and disciplinary issues.
- Disciplinary and Consequence Management - Manage employee disciplinary processes to ensure fairness, legal compliance, and proper documentation, in line with company policies and labour laws.
- Stakeholder Management - Build strong relationships with external authorities (e.g., JPP, JTK, JHEKS, Fair Work Commission, Employment Tribunal) to stay updated on legal changes and manage potential risks related to employee claims and union activities.
- Assessing On-Ground Sentiments - Lead initiatives based on employee feedback and past trends to promote education, compliance, accountability, and a positive relationship with trade unions.
- Education and Awareness - Train managers and Human Capital teams on applying the collective agreement and Human Capital policies to ensure consistent understanding and implementation across the company.
Qualifications & Working Experience- Degree in Law/Human Resources/Public Administration or any related field with 4 years of working experience in Human Resource - IR/ Employment Law / Union Management.
Key Challenges- Maintain good employee relations during major business changes, keeping morale high and avoiding disputes or work stoppages.
- Handle serious employee issues that could affect business operations, brand reputation, or cause legal risks.
- Ensure the company quickly adapts to changing labour laws and industrial rules in different locations.
- Balance the companys needs with demands from different unions or employee groups, each with their own negotiation style.
- Train managers to confidently manage employee relations issues while following company policies and values.
Personality Traits- Demonstrates high integrity, strategic thinking, and provides cost-effective, customer-focused advice to Senior Management on disciplinary and legal matters.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to maintain positive industrial relations.
- Good technical knowledge of employment and trade union laws, including the Employment Act, Trade Union Act, Industrial Relations Act, and related regulations.
