WE’RE LOOKING FOR A MANAGER, PURCHASING
LOCATION: FORT ERIE, ON
Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager reports to the Director, Supply Chain and is responsible for overseeing and managing all tasks related to Procurement: Ensuring quality, cost effective and timely delivery of goods and services, the development and implementation of procurement strategies, management of supplier relationships and overall inventory management.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Purchasing
Procurement
Manage and oversee the placement of Purchase Orders (via MRP or manual Purchase Requisitions, OPEX/CAPEX) to satisfy business requirements.
Lead supplier Contract/Service Level Agreement negotiations to define and execute appropriate terms and conditions (pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality requirements, etc.)
Work collaboratively with AH Group procurement counterparts to leverage order volumes and spend in support of cost savings opportunities and synergies.
Develop, implement and maintain compliance with all procurement, logistics and export policies, procedures and strategies to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
Ensure departmental compliance with established processes in support of AS9001/ISO14001 initiatives: Supplier quality and risk assessments, Non-disclosure agreements, contractor environmental responsibility etc.
Support Purchasing personnel with required supplier escalations for missed or failed commitments impacting internal operations and/or customer satisfaction.
Ensure Procurement alignment within Airbus Group policy and support development of AH group purchasing synergies, where possible.
Investigate and take a pro-active approach to address all missed OTR/OTD.
Review and approve Purchase Requisitions, as required.
Inventory Management
Oversee forecasting of inventory requirements to support procurement procedures, raw material and component delivery, and storage space optimization.
Optimize inventory levels by continuously monitoring consumption and reporting on safety stock levels, back order fulfilment and future requirement forecasting.
Supplier Management
Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers to sustain thorough knowledge of current activity and prospective business opportunities.
Meet with suppliers seeking to establish relationships with the organization to review products, costs and performance recommendations.
Monitor the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements (KPI’s); identify and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with other departments.
Management
Lead the Purchasing team in executing best practices and measuring performance through agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Establish organization of departmental roles and responsibilities, define priorities and set objectives that align with top company objectives (TCO’s).
Manage and develop people’s strengths and competences according to future business needs, career development plans and through identification and promotion of talent.
Foster change by demonstrating a continuous improvement mindset.
Review and provide regular feedback on individual team member’s performance and behaviours, in accordance with established HR policies.
Lead and execute required departmental training.
Position Requirements:
Education
College Diploma or University Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management , Operations Management or related field.
Supply Chain Canada Professional Designation- NISCL, CSCMP (or equivalent).
Experience
10 years’ experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain and Logistics Management.
5 years’ experience in the Aerospace Industry, considered an asset.
Demonstrated management experience and exhibited leadership skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
In-depth knowledge of end to end supply chain processes and total cost of ownership.
Ability to develop a culture of high standards, excellent quality and customer responsiveness.
Demonstrate professional, ethical behaviour with strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
Exercise sound business practice in spend decisions regarding total cost of inventory ownership.
High level of attention to detail to ensure conformity is met in all aspects (safety, quality, cost, delivery and people).
Strong leadership skills demonstrated through the ability to motivate/mentor team members.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex issues through effective organizational and time management skills.
Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills/techniques.
Knowledge of Aerospace Industry and Standards is an asset (AS9100, ISO 14001).
SAP Experience an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
Proficiency in Google Suite.
