Regional Trade Compliance Manager

Position Description:
The primary responsibility of The Regional Trade Compliance Manager (RTCM) will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and function of the Cincinnati site as a Free Trade Zone (FTZ). In addition, the RTCM will be responsible for compliance with United States import and export control laws and regulations. The RTCM will provide regulatory interpretation, guidance and training as well as be responsible for drafting and submitting for necessary import and export authorizations. The RTCM reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain.
Specific Accountabilities
- This position will be in direct support of the Cincinnati site and its Free Trade Zone (FTZ). This position will work closely with Corporate Trade Compliance and other StandardAero facilities with a Free Trade Zone.
- Take primary responsibility for all customs activities regarding logistics in support of international and overseas movement of components requiring prompt and efficient handling through the customs import/export process.
- Assist in the implementation, development and continuous improvement of department manuals, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Build relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders, business, quality, and operations personnel, Customs Agency personnel and international expediting services to help resolve freight problems.
- Facilitate and expedite the flow of goods into and out of the zone.
- Validate FTZ data against actual documentation as needed to ensure accuracy of integration and information.
- Process and verify FTZ related data to include any duty drawback requirements or handling of charges related to duties/taxes.
- Handle any delivery inconsistencies or delays into or out of the zone.
- Create shipping documentation per military and DOT regulations for shipments in bond.
- Conduct and coordinate the daily activities including document preparations; document retention; custom clearance scheduling; and liaising with outside agencies.
- Perform periodic internal import audits within custom department and business unit to ensure Customs compliance is met.
- Responsible for addressing internal deficiencies in a timely fashion to ensure compliance.
- Establishes methods to meet work schedules and coordinates work activities with other departments to support custom requirements.
- Keep abreast of Customs procedures and policies and communicate them across the business units. Example: Duty programs, special trade programs, HS classifications, bond renewal, website updates, etc.
- Provide guidance and training, on U.S., Canadian and International import and export regulations and internal policies and procedures to relevant StandardAero employees.
- Act as a liaison with the respective Customs Authorities and customs broker, as applicable.
- Assist in hosting regular meetings with regional and local Customs representative.
- Observes and reports any issues or concerns in support of the company-wide quality, environmental and Safety Management System [SMS] policies.
- Carries out additional projects as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Bachelor degree in International Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in trade compliance/import/export environment.
- Knowledge of United States and/or international customs requirements and regulations.
- Good planning, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, decisions making, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professional relationships and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to apply common sense, professional judgment, and technical expertise.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast pace and high-demanding environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Willing to travel (15) domestic and international.
- Ability to (i) understand the internal processes and controls vital to comply with relevant trade compliance regulations, and (ii) has the ability to build relationships with internal business owners to implement and develop these processes
Preferred Characteristics:
- Supply Chain operations or logistics experience
- Experience working with / managing a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)
- Minimum 3 years managing import/export operational compliance activities
- Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and assimilate regulations and technical documents
