The DHC-AMO is leading the De Havilland Aircraft of Canada business unit for maintenance, refurbishment and modifications of new DHC factory built and used aircraft. We carry out major modifications on all DHC fleet. Currently we are acquiring used Dash 8-400 and Classics and carrying out refurbishments for cargo combi, Package freighter, Large Cargo door, avionics modifications etc. We are also bringing in damaged/used Twin otters and repairing/refurbishing them for our current customers to also include Garmin Avionics Suite. The CL 215 conversions are now being revamped to include Universal Avionics Upgrades. The AMO is also doing upgrades to Sherpa SD3-60 to include Universal Upgrades.
Position
Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Planning Lead is responsible for planning the scheduled maintenance activities within the AMO by identifying the maintenance requirements and translating this information into the work package that includes the Job cads, bill of materials and resources list. You will have direct reports.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the planning team in building clear, executable work packages that streamline workflow. Validate and examine the work package based on defined work scope and ensure required materials, consumables, rotables and GSE, services, approved data required to complete the aircraft maintenance and or modification to
- Manage the end-to-end induction and delivery of CLs, Twin Otters, Sherpa etc. that you may be assigned as per direction from your manager.
- Anticipate challenges in production and implement solutions before they impact timelines.
- Maintain the baseline sequencing of the work package into time-phase blocks of work. Provide these time-phased details to Supply Chain for Materials planning and estimating.
- Develop, publish, and maintain a depiction of the work sequence, milestones, and current status of the project. Ensure high visibility in the shops as well as on electronic dashboards.
- Solicit feedback from Technicians, Working Leads, and Crew Chiefs regarding enhancements to be made to the Maintenance Plan. Capture and process lessons learned on task card content, clarity, sequencing, trades required, or durations. Build improvements into the sequence for future use.
- Ensuring the aircraft are supported by creation, printing and closing job cards, required tools, parts, rotables are available to Production for work execution. The work package is closed at the end of the project.
- Monitor and coordinate the re-evaluation of task card description, sequences and hours to optimize trades and equipment during the performance of maintenance
- The team is directed to have the project under budget and on time. Balance resources, timelines, and priorities effectively.
Education and Experience Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering or AME license will be an asset.
- Minimum five to ten (5-10) years’ experience with Aircraft Maintenance Planning and/or operations.
- Experience using ERP systems – Visual/IFS/CAMP.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, aircraft manuals, service bulletins, STCs and ADs.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint within a MS Windows environment.
