The Effector RF Products Department is searching for a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to take on the RF Electronics Lead role for a critical missile program essential to our national defense.
The RF Electronics Lead will guide a team of 5-10 engineers in the design and development upgrade of an existing complex RF electronics assembly. Leveraging extensive technical expertise, the Lead will architect subassemblies, design constituent Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), and plan and execute verification strategies. The role also involves providing technical guidance and supervision, mentoring newer engineers, managing suppliers, and possibly leading proposal development efforts.
This position is an onsite role, located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
- Provide technical oversight and leadership for an interdisciplinary team developing an RF subsystem and its component CCAs.
- Act as the technical interface between individual contributors and program leadership.
- Work in a lab setting to accomplish component characterization, module verification, and integration.
- Mentor design engineers.
- Oversee CCA schematic capture and RF routing.
- Travel as required to oversee supplier activities.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience to include any combination of the following:
- RF circuit card design and fabrication
- RF subassembly test and troubleshoot
- Simulation of RF products
- Experience with any of combination of the following tools:
- Mentor DX Designer or equivalent
- High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) or equivalent
- SystemVue/Genesys or equivalent
- Advanced Design System (ADS) or equivalent
Qualifications We Prefer
- Prior experience as a technical leader of an RF hardware design activity
- Responsibility for cost and schedule performance reporting
- Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering degree
- Experience in mentorship or apprenticeship roles.
- Proficiency in architecting and defining requirements for complex RF products.
- Ability to prepare and review technical documentation.
- Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, including yield and margin analysis.
- Experience with missile systems or similar technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of mixed signal electronics and practical experience across all phases of the product development lifecycle.
- Design and test experience in areas such as broadband/superheterodyne receiver design, cascade analysis, automatic gain control (AGC) scheduling, filter design and fabrication, circuit card assembly design and fabrication, high-speed data converter test/characterization, and high-power RF design or test.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
