Quality Management Specialists assist the Manager, Quality Programs in coordinating the QMS within MTU to ensure Company and Regulatory requirements are complied with. A suitable candidate must have the ability to engage and manage Quality Techniques within the organization and actively participates in process improvement. Typical duties and responsibilities include: the strategic development and implementation of quality audit and improvement initiatives driving the overall Quality Management System.
They are accountable for communicating the department’s goals and objectives and they are able to influence, raise awareness and lead others in the importance of Quality. In addition, the Quality Management Specialist will be responsible for continuous improvement in the field of Quality and employ the principles of AS9110, Lean/6S and Kaizen and as well as participating in quality training initiatives and overall corporate awareness programs.
Operational activities:
- Monitor Company performance to established quality targets and recommend required change to achieve established quality goals and objectives
- Manage supplier quality issues, supplier quality approval, and supplier quality performance
- Ensure audit awareness and compliance are to the appropriate aviation and MTU standards through access and use of MTU IT tools for quality improvement
- Lead/assist in the investigation of product or process non-conformances and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Lead/assist in regulatory, customer and third party audits of the Company
- Resolve non-conformances identified in regulatory, customer and third party audits of the Company
- Implement and maintain Approved Maintenance Organization status for the Company with foreign National Aviation Authorities and Transport Canada Civil Aviation
- Communicate and interact with MTU network to resolve common MRO-specific quality issues
- Create quality reports for various purposes, including both internal and external authorities
- Projects, initiatives and additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Quality Programs
Proactive activities:
- Perform internal and external compliance, process and product quality audits
- Develop and maintain Company Quality Management System documentation (MPM, OP, WI)
- Conduct audits, including the closure of audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions
- Identify improvement initiatives for the Company and liaise with applicable departments to realize improvements
- Bachelor/University degree in an Engineering related area and 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Management, or
- The completion of college and other certificates in Quality Management plus 5-7 years’ experience in Quality, or
- Equivalent education and 5-7 years experience in Quality Management
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Operation System Windows
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, MS Access 2010
- Intermediate knowledge of SAP Quality specific functions/transactions is an asset
- Advanced knowledge of aviation specific requirements in respect to Quality
- Good understanding of Quality IT solutions
- Advanced knowledge of Aerospace specific Quality System requirements
- Good understanding of National Aviation Authority regulations
- ISO Auditor training and certification is an asset
- Possess ability to obtain Controlled Goods clearance (per the Canadian Controlled Goods Directorate)
- Must be capable and willing to travel (domestically and internationally) and maintain a current passport
