Summary:
Responsible for preparing, applying, and touching up finishes on aircraft furniture per aircraft specifications and engineering/design drawings.
Support team leadership by overseeing projects, providing direction to co-workers, and mentoring junior finishers.
Perform complex, high-quality repairs and finishing on aircraft furniture both in-shop and onboard aircraft using spray and manual/mechanical methods.
Interpret material specifications and ensure finishes meet design and engineering standards.
Coordinate with Design team to confirm compliance with customer-approved samples.
Champion safety protocols, 5S practices, and aircraft interior protection procedures (PTP).
Mentor and train less experienced technicians.
Support and implement process improvements to enhance safety, reduce costs and cycle times using Lean Six Sigma tools.
Use material tracking systems to create part demands, track issues, and document work completion.
Assist in developing initiatives to meet OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, and Measures).
Act as Lead when required; delegate tasks and oversee project execution.
Conduct and support safety audits.
Help maintain shop equipment and related Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Contribute improvement ideas (YIW) and support monthly 5S audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 4 years of experience in wood finishing processes
Advanced knowledge of cabinet finishing techniques and products
Aerospace industry experience preferred
Working knowledge of inspection procedures, process specifications, and terminology.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physically able to climb ladders, work in confined areas, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift.
Computer literacy required.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
