Job Description:

This position is expected to assist in leading the activities in support of North Island HSC-3, San Diego, CA to ensure that squadron aircraft are properly maintained and serviced, ensure aircraft equipment/support are available, dependable and safe at all times. Oversee maintain and employee issues and turn in programs and ensures compliance with corporate policies and government regulations. Supervises and coordinates activities for all employees involved in aircraft maintenance on all shifts.

Responsibilities:

Safety - Amentum enforces a safety culture whereby all employees have the responsibility for continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment. As appropriate, each employee is responsible for completing all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.

  • Operated as a Safety Supervisor and report to the Site Manager on AMENTUM safety matters including: Navy Occupational Safety and Health (NAVOSH) program; OSHA program, Traffic/Driving Safety; Fire Protection and Prevention; Heat Stress control, Operational Risk Management (ORM), Fall Protection and shall be knowledgeable/proficient with requirements and instructions in the flowing instruction DCMA 8210.1C chapter 6 (Safety).
  • Assist in overseeing all mishap investigations and provide mishap investigation support to tentative commands as required.
  • Assist the EHS Lead establish, coordinate, direct, and evaluate the effectiveness of AMENTUM safety policies, plans, programs, and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic safety evaluations and surveys of AMENTUM safety programs and procedures to determine the level of compliance with safety regulations, directives, and instructions; and to evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and procedures.
  • Interpret safety regulations and standards and participate in the development of new or revised safety standards.
  • Report on latest injury/illness mishap data, analyzes reports, and initiate action to improve safety program.
  • Increase safety awareness through appropriate promotional methods and channels of communication. Ensure consideration of OSHA features in the design, purchase, or procurement of items where AMENTUM exercises acquisition authority.
  • AMENTUM Safety Supervisor; on safety councils, committees, and working groups established by higher authority.
  • Plan, develop, participate in, and evaluate employee safety training in coordination with cognizant training groups, offices, and organizations.
  • Review and coordinate budget requirements, requests, and program objective memorandums for safety and coordinates safety budget submissions as appropriate.
  • Must be able to attain, Safety Trained Supervisor.

  • Perform the duties of a Operational Supervisor and report to the Site Manager on AMENTUM maintenance operations including: FOD program, Tool Control program, METCAL program, IMRL program, Plane Captain program, Tire & Wheel Maintenance program, Hydraulic Contamination program, Phase Maintenance program, Aircraft Preservation program, Corrosion Control program, ALSS program, and shall be knowledgeable/proficient with requirements and instructions in the flowing instruction DCMA 8210.1C chapter 5 (Ground).
  • Assist in maintenance planning for day-to-day operations and report to the Site Manager any pertinent information that may affect the effectiveness and quality of service. Communicate and coordinate with the command Maintenance Control, Quality Assurance, GGR, COR, & GFR on all matters pertaining to maintenance operations to include impacts to the flight schedule and overall security of aircraft.
  • Conduct site wide inspections on all AMENTUM work centers to ensure regulatory compliance with AS9100D, DCMA 8210.1C, FOP, GOP, SOP, LOIs, SOs, and the NAMP 4790.2 Series.

Procedure Compliance - Each employee must read, understand and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Work is performed in a office environment that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close spaces and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and support equipment outside of shop area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit and walk up stairs. Occasionally lifts items weighing 20-30 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat; and risk of electrical shock. The work environment requires questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to other supervisors and the Site Manager on all safety issues.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ten (10) or more years experience and specific knowledge in aircraft maintenance and NAMP 4790 either through; schooling, to include a formal apprenticeship or equivalent, and/or verifiable on the job experience.
  • Must know theory and principles of aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance documentation in NALCOMAS/OOMA, air operations and aircraft accessories/components. To include ground support equipment for aircraft and employee transportation vehicles.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Must pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) with a Tier 3 adjudication.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and pass any medical examination requirements.
  • Must be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
  • Must have the ability to read, interpret, and apply Technical Manual instructions, publications, and safety rules.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and use vehicle maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Computer literate with experience using MS Office.
  • Position may require travel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must know theory and principles of maintenance Quality Assurance (QA), QA  aircraft/Navy maintenance audits using NAMP and CSEC programs.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested
  • Experience in field repairs and recovery.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is $82,500.
