Station Manager Boston
Your role
As a Station Manager Boston, you will have overall responsibility for ensuring the Aer Lingus Boston operation is conducted in a safe and secure environment, while meeting the company’s on time, customer and financial objectives. Our US Operations Department helps us to drive Aer Lingus’ ambition by ensuring seamless, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery across all American gateways, supporting operational excellence, and fostering strong transatlantic partnerships.
Your responsibilities as a Station Manager Boston will include:
- Responsibility for the integration of the Aer Lingus Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Ground Operations Safety Management at BOS. Ensuring handling agents are aware of and adhere to the Aer Lingus SMS and the safety reporting policies and procedures.
- Ensuring handling services provided to Aer Lingus by Contracted Suppliers are performed in accordance with the appropriate handling agreements and in conformity with all operative, qualitative and safety requirements.
- Ensuring EASA, CAA, FAA and all applicable rules and regulations are followed and ensuring that audit non-conformities are corrected within mandatory target dates and without delay in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensuring applicable airport staff are current on corporate goals and required training in accordance with the Aer Lingus Ground Operations manual (GOM).
- Ensuring a seamless transfer product for both customers and baggage with focus on delivery of transfer baggage in both directions to ensure mishandled baggage is kept to an absolute minimum (max of 3 per 1000 Customers).
- Building and maintaining working relationships with in-house departments and control authorities (Irish Aviation Authority, Federal Aviation Administration, Civil Aviation Authority (UK), Transport Security Administration, Department of Transportation, Air Traffic Control, Homeland Security / Customs and Border Protection.)
- Liaising with the Aer Lingus Global Control Center (GCC), Network Customer Care (NCC) and the Network Transfer Control (NTC) to effectively manage delays/disruptions/cancellations.
- Identifying initiatives with a view to reducing handling costs, unit business cost per customer, aircraft movement, improving on time performance (OTP) and Voice of the Customer (VOC).
- Leading stakeholders in coordinating and keeping current the Emergency Response Program.
- Performing all other duties as assigned (general US policy).
Your qualifications and key criteria
We are looking for an individual with experience / qualifications in the following areas:
- Candidate must be legally authorised to work in the United States and possess a current, valid US Passport, Green Card or Visa.
- Significant experience of working in an airline Ground Handling operation including experience at senior supervisor level as a minimum and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of all relevant Ground Operations procedures.
- Sound knowledge of the Aer Lingus Safety Policy and the role of the Station Manager in the Safety Management System.
- Knowledge of USA Federal and State aviation regulations, laws and guidelines.
- Knowledge of airport emergency operations and security regulations.
- Commercial awareness including external marketplace conditions.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office combined with proficiency in IT systems.
- Must be contactable 24/7.
- Must be willing to work weekends and work flexibly in the event of delays, disruptions or emergencies.
- Ability to work legally in the US (US passport or Greencard holder).
- Able and willing to undergo background and police checks in North America in order to obtain airport clearance.
- Possession and demonstration of the key competencies and skills outlined below.
- Customer focused with a strong awareness of the Aer Lingus Customer Service Standards.
- Full knowledge of ramp operations and all Aer Lingus SOPs.
- Ability to manage and drive external 3rd party performance.
- Proven interpersonal skills and influencing skills with ability to build and maintain positive relationships across internal departments and a number of external stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
- Self motivator who can perform well as an individual or within a team.
- Proven planning, co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation skills in an operational environment
- Strong problem solving ability to identify the root cause of issues and develop practical, business driven solutions.
- Ability to make quick and sound decisions independently
- A sound knowledge and appreciation of the detail and complexity of the regulatory environment governing ground/airport operations in the USA.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligible to live and work in the EU.
- Current unrestricted worldwide passport.
- Provide three verifiable references.
- Able to pass a five year security background check.
