What Youll Get to Do

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance Programs, the Technical Records Manager is responsible for overseeing the Technical Records department, which will in turn ensure the maintaining of aircraft/component records, data entry into the maintenance tracking system and the completion of general office duties such as photocopying and filing.

Operations:

  • Overseeing the operations of the Technical Record department
  • Maintenance of aircraft/component records in accordance with established procedures and policies of Transport Canada, component/aircraft manufactures or Director of Maintenance Programs
  • Overseeing and facilitating the cross check daily flight times in Win Air computer software program
  • Overseeing and facilitating the clearance of maintenance performed as per completed work cards in maintenance tracking system
  • Overseeing and facilitating the transcription of journey log sheets into the technical logbooks
  • Select and enter items that also require transcription into the Modification, Engine or Propeller logbooks
  • Overseeing and facilitating the archiving of journey log sheets, inspection sheets, and job cards
  • Overseeing and facilitating the maintenance of the aircraft and general office filling system
  • Overseeing and facilitating revisions of the MRBR, TLD, MPD, and other documents making up Calm Air’s Maintenance Schedule
  • Management of maintenance tracking system changes
  • Overseeing and facilitating the data entry and tracking of major rotables in the maintenance tracking system
  • Responsible for reviewing and implementing STC ICA’s, MMS, AWL as required
  • Complete quality control checks of the Calm Air technical records as per Company manuals
  • Provide training in all applicable tasks to Technical Records Clerks
  • Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported in the SMS program or in writing
  • Creation and amending of policies and standards practices relating to the technical record
  • Carrying out audit procedures and reviews under the Quality Assurance Program as directed
  • Other duties as assigned

Financial:

  • Adhere to all financial internal controls
  • Engage in ongoing cost reduction analysis within your department

Safety and Leadership:

  • Engage and lead all performance management activities of the Technical Records clerks including performance reviews and ensuring accountability and adherence to all Company policies and procedures
  • Change management leader – execute change while supporting employees through communication, listening and actioning
  • Create and maintain a positive Company culture that supports employee participation
  • Actively support the safety management system by following SMS processes and encouraging a safety reporting culture in your department.
  • Promote occupational health and safety within your department and participate in the development and monitoring of safety training
  • Proactively communicate hazards and SMS initiatives with your department
  • Embark on employment equity initiatives, engaging with all employees to promote employment equity and encouraging employees to undertake the self-declaration survey updating as necessary
  • All levels of the organization share responsibility for human rights within the organization including overseeing and promoting continuous improvement on human rights and employment equity initiatives

MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS AND LEADS – have been delegated the authority and are responsible to the Department Head to actively identify hazards and deficiencies and report through the SMS (Safety Management System) Program reporting system.  Communicate with all personnel within their respective department and other departments as required to maintain effective day to day activities.  Ensure regulatory and Company standards are maintained. Assist in the development and maintenance of Company processes and procedures. (Quality Assurance activities)

Carry out their duties safely within regulatory and Company standards, policies, processes, and procedures as trained.  Use safety equipment (tools, Proper Protective Equipment etc.) as provided.  Actively identify and report hazards and deficiencies (when in doubt report).  Assist in the development of Company processes and procedures as required.

Skills & Experience We Value 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Previous experience in a related field considered an asset
  • 1-3 years supervisory of management experience required
  • Post-secondary education in Office Administration considered as asset
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License considered an asset
  • Proficiency with computers (MS Office)
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Security Clearance
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
