Job Summary

Swissport is seeking a results-driven commercial leader to serve as Vice President, Commercial – Asian Markets. Based in North America, this role is dedicated to winning, renewing, and expanding Ground Handling, Fueling, and Lounge contracts at U.S. and Canadian airports, with a core focus on carriers based in China and across Asia. The successful candidate will bring deep relationships, strong cultural fluency, and a proven track record of driving commercial success with Asian airline customers.

Job Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Strategic Growth and Sales Execution
  • Lead customer acquisition and expand share of wallet from Asian airline partners operating in North America, with primary emphasis on Chinese carriers.
  • Convert deep industry relationships and spanet knowledge into long-term, profitable contracts.
  • Exceed sales targets for new business, renewals, and pricing adjustments across Swissport’s North American network.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key Asian airline accounts, providing ongoing strategic support and value-based engagement.
  • Drive customer satisfaction and retention through consistent in-person interaction and tailored account plans.
  • Ensure high-quality customer experience across onboarding, implementation, and service delivery phases.

Market-Specific Strategy and Planning

  • Build and execute a targeted commercial strategy for the Asian airline segment, including prioritized sales pipeline, win plans, and quarterly forecasts.
  • Collaborate with North American station leaders and global teams to develop localized solutions that align with airline expectations and Swissport capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and opportunity tracking in Salesforce.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Finance, Legal, and Planning to shape compelling, profitable proposals.
  • Provide commercial leadership on win strategy, pricing, and key bid opportunities involving Asian carriers.
  • Identify and escalate risks, gaps, or new investment needs based on spanet conditions.

Governance and Compliance

  • Follow all internal processes related to pricing, bid approval, and customer contract execution.
  • Maintain adherence to regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance standards, especially when dealing with international customers.
  • Ensure commercial accuracy and transparency in reporting and documentation.
  • Support collection of outstanding receivables as necessary.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 7–10 years in business development or sales within the aviation ground services industry, with demonstrable success in the Chinese and broader Asian spanets.
  • Language: Fluent in Mandarin (spoken and written); professional English proficiency required.
  • Knowledge: Strong grasp of airport ground handling dynamics and contract structures; existing network among Chinese and Asian airline decision-makers.Location: Based in North America, with the ability to represent Swissport in-spanet with airline HQs and at key U.S./Canada airports.

Travel Requirements

  • Willing and able to travel up to 75, including frequent international trips to Asia and regular travel within the U.S. and Canada.

Performance Indicators

  • Value and volume of new business wins with Chinese and Asian airlines.
  • Renewal rate and margin growth on existing accounts.
  • Price increase capture vs. contracted targets.
  • EBIT contribution from assigned portfolio.
