Job Description

Conduct examinations and quality control inspections on aircraft Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) systems and components at various stages of the maintenance process to ensure compliance with all established FAA/EASA/CAAC quality and reliability standards. The role involves ensuring the operational integrity of APUs, which are small, self-contained gas turbine engines providing electrical, pneumatic, and sometimes hydraulic power to aircraft.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections in accordance with FAA/EASA regulatory requirements on all new components and materials received by the MRO Repair Station.
  • Conduct visual inspections of soldered connections and mechanical inspections of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Prepare and complete necessary documentation for reporting acceptance or rejection of inspected and tested items.
  • Utilize SAP-based ERP system and E-Pulse quality management system for documentation and tracking quality.
  • Employ measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, rulers, optical comparator, surface plate with related accessories, weights and scales, microscope, special inspection tools and fixtures, coordinate measuring machine, and profilometer.
  • Use test equipment like curve tracer, video bridge, and multimeters.
Essential Skills
  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or aviation.
  • Experience in quality control and assurance.
  • Familiarity with blueprint and visual inspection.
  • Experience in receiving inspection.
  • Ability to read technical work instructions and basic schematics.
  • Proficiency in using SAP-based ERP systems and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs multiple times per day.
  • Proof of education (minimum HS diploma or GED).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

Work Environment

Work in clean and quiet production and repair station areas. The FAA Repair Station is a dedicated area on the production floor where APUs are received, repaired/overhauled, and tested/certified for return to service. This role requires adherence to proper procedures and documentation to comply with FAA regulations. Day shift schedule from 0600 to 1630, with flexibility to adjust hours once trained.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukie, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
