We are looking for experienced Tool & Die Maker, Level 2 who are seeking their next opportunity in a complex and ever-changing work environment!
Job Description:
- The Tool Maker fabricates and repair a variety of tooling as required to support all facets of aircraft manufacturing. Such tooling will include all types of production jigs, fixtures and templates to support existing programs.
- Performs any and all phases of machining and bench operations to coordinate, construct and repair complex tools and equipment involving layout, hand finishing, assembly, cutting, forming, welding (both gas and electric arc).
- Maintains tools and jigs to specifications, blueprints or furnished information.
- Performs optical alignment of jigs and fixtures.
- Layout, develop and fabricate flat and formed templates from blueprints, loft data, mock ups, etc.
- Lays out and fabricates flat contour and patterns from sample or damaged parts.
- Sets up on surface table or tooling decks such as jigs and fixtures as master inspection gauges, involving complex contours, compound angles requiring the coordination of drill holes and location of critical points.
- Working from tool shop orders, tool design drawings, parts, blueprints, specifications, tool fabrication procedures and verbal instructions, plans necessary machine tool work which may involve making or developing sketches for use by self or others; fabricate tooling without complete tooling information and checks the completed tool for quality and workmanship.
- Sets up completely and operates various standard machine tools to make new and replacement tooling details to exacting tolerances.
- Work assignments in this classification require the set up and operating of such standard machine tools as milling machines, engine and tool room lathes, planers, shapers, jig borers, duplicating and profiling machines, boring mills, thread mills, grinders, radial drills, etc.
- Uses such typical equipment as lift truck, crane and scooter to load, move, unload and position tools or materials.
- Performs duties incidental to the accomplishment of the assigned task. Each employee will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and housekeeping in his work area as directed as well as assuring the accuracy of their work.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or accredited GED
- 2-5 years of experience
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Current or previous successful metal fabrication experience strongly preferred
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Aircraft tool maintenance, manual machining, and PCMM and Optical Alignment equipment experience required
- Tooling experience with major assembly tools and apply tools such as drill templates
- Understand basic periotic tool inspection procedures
- Tooling experience with master gage set tooling
