This internship will take place onsite in Duluth, MN from May 2025 through August 2025.

Job Description:

The internship will expose the candidate to real world safety reporting, aircraft incident and accident investigation, root cause analysis methodologies, follow up reporting, corrective action strategies, and safety feedback loops. Additionally, the candidate will participate in Safety Management System development at an operational and corporate level.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Observe / assist in NTSB reportable incident and accident investigations (travel required)
  • Assist with the dispositioning of internal company safety reports to include:
    • Conducting follow up via phone, email, and in person to verify facts, conditions, and circumstances of reported mishaps
    • Photograph & document evidence related to reported mishaps
    • Summarize findings
    • Make safety recommendations
  • Assist in writing case notes, final reports, and making presentations on investigations
  • Attend senior leadership meetings regarding corporate flight safety
  • Draft safety article and other safety content for internal safety publications
  • Participate in flight data analysis activities

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an aviation oriented and/or safety oriented bachelor or masters degree.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Able and willing to travel within the continental United States during internship (expenses paid).
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands, and multiple project priorities at same time.
