The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australias (BDA) Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services team are looking for our next generation of Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineersto start their career in aviation based at RAAF Base Amberley.
As our newest Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Surface Finisher,you will be responsible for gaining skills and experience in surface finishing on various aircraft platforms and aircraft components, in support of attainment of a Certificate III in Aircraft Surface Finishing.
- Mentoring and support from industry leading professionals

- Provide aircraft maintenance and modification on some of the most capable surveillance, command, control, and combat platforms in the world.
Our team at RAAF Base Amberley support the following programs: Boeing Airpower Teaming System (ATS) - Loyal Wingman, C-17A Globemaster, F/A-18F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler and E-7A Wedgetail.
Your Day:
No two days are the same, however here is an example of what activities you can expect to undertake during your apprenticeship:
- Be an integral part of the existing Amberley MRO paint team
- Deliver quality products to our customers on a first-time quality basis
- Demonstrate competence in all aircraft surface finishing processes including paint application
- Work within a small dynamic team and be able to respond effectively to changing requirements
In addition to the above, in order to successfully complete your apprenticeship you will also be required to:
- Attend training with a Registered Training Organisation
- Pass all examinations to the acceptable pass span of the Registered Training Organisation
Maintain a detailed journal of experience to a standard acceptable to BDA and the Registered Training Organisation
Your checklist for success:
- Enthusiasm and passion to learn aircraft maintenance support activities from experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineers who will mentor and guide you from day one to completion of your Cert III Aircraft Surface Finishing.
- A natural aptitude with a willingness to learn
- Ability to successfully interact with mentors, co-workers and management to maintain productive working relationships to meet team, business unit, and organisational goals
- Have the self-discipline to maintain a current work journal
- Able to speak, read and write fluent English
- Flexibility with working hours and locations
