PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to hire an experienced Jig & Tool Builder. The Role & Your Impact
As a Jig & Tool Builder, you will plan, construct, and assemble the tools and dies that enable precise aerospace production. Your work ensures that engineering designs translate into accurate, manufacturable components.
From interpreting complex engineering documents to assembling precision tools and troubleshooting design challenges, you will play a critical role in maintaining quality, efficiency, and production success.
What You’ll Do
Tool & Die Construction
Plan and construct tool and die layouts using Engineering, Tool Design, and Methods documentation.
Determine and order raw materials required for tool and die fabrication.
Assemble tools and dies to exact engineering specifications using precision measurement equipment.
Technical Review & Estimating
Machining & Equipment Operation
Set up and operate shop machinery including mills, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, table routers, power hand tools, and heat treat ovens.
Apply strong mechanical skills to fabricate and refine components.
Troubleshooting & Collaboration
Diagnose and resolve construction challenges related to tool and die design.
Coordinate closely with Engineering, Tool Design, Production, and Methods teams to ensure successful project completion.
Maintain compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards throughout the build process.
Required Qualifications
Typically 7 years of experience in conventional machining, sheet metal, fabrication, or related fields
At least 5 years of experience specifically in tool and die construction
Ability to read and interpret Engineering, Methods, and Tool Design documents
Proficiency using precision measurement instruments
Experience setting up and operating a variety of shop machines and tools
Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills
Basic knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, and algebra
Understanding of safety requirements related to tool and die construction
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive working knowledge of tool and die construction processes, equipment, and materials
Experience supporting aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments
Proven ability to estimate build times and assess manufacturability

Pay Details: $30.00 to $35.00 per hour
