Delta Wellness Data Science Co-op 

Delta is expanding its wellness data science, data engineering and reporting capabilities while unlocking initiatives that drive improvements in the health and wellness of our employees, their families, and our customers.

The Delta Wellness Data Science Co-op will develop analyses of data that provide key insights and takeaways into the wellness ecosystem at Delta.  This will encompass using programming methods to explore and merge data from wellness resources, creating analyses and communicating results through presenting, reporting, and visualization. 

In addition, this role will provide ad-hoc support for reporting and data inquiries related to wellness data.

A successful candidate will espouse Deltas core values of Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Perseverance.  Additionally, they will exhibit strong analytical and technical skills, a bias for action, and the ability to partner with others to drive results.  Data-driven insights are crucial to forming business decisions around wellness at Delta, and this position will require a curious learner whose responsibilities will be to generate insights around wellness resources.  A successful candidate will also have strong programming and analytical skills - finding ways to creatively and effectively explore and summarize data.

Students must be able to complete 3 alternating rotations in Atlanta, GA in line with the below schedule:

  • Summer 2025 - 1st rotation
  • Spring 2026 - 2nd rotation
  • Fall 2026 - 3rd rotation

Primary Functions

  • Locate, extract, and combine data from a variety of sources into single, analyzable datasets
  • Summarize analysis data using statistical, tabular, and visualization methods
  • Utilize analytical tools to measure relationships between predictor variables and outcomes of interest
  • Assemble reports of analysis results, summarizing key takeaways and insights answering business questions around employee wellness
  • Maintain and continually improve analyses/reports based on input from key stakeholders
  • Identify and continually seek to improve data and tools available to Delta as a part of the Delta Wellness platform
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
  • 1+ years of R, Python, or other programming scripting languages
  • 1+ years of SQL experience and an understanding of efficient query practices
  • 1+ years of experience in data analysis, statistics, data mining, machine learning, information science, or another relevant quantitative field
  • Functional understanding of basic and object-oriented programming concepts (loops, conditionals, variables, functions, multi-dimensional arrays)
  • Must be comfortable working in group and individual settings
  • Working on a Bachelors degree ideally in Data Science, Statistics, Computer/Information Science, Mathematics, or another relevant quantitative field
  • Understanding of cloud computing technologies like AWS
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
