Responsibilities
Position Summary
The DOT Security and Compliance Specialist plays a pivotal role in safeguarding PSA Airlines’ operational integrity and regulatory adherence. This position bridges the gap between federal mandates and internal processes, ensuring seamless coordination with agencies like the TSA, FAA, DOT, and CBSA. By managing security programs, vetting procedures, and compliance audits, the specialist helps protect the airline from legal risk, enhances safety for employees and passengers, and upholds the company’s reputation.
In addition to overseeing identification media, PRIA documentation, and drug and alcohol testing protocols, the role supports the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), contributing to proactive risk management and continuous improvement. With responsibilities that span data accuracy, regulatory reporting, and interdepartmental collaboration, this specialist is a key driver of PSA’s commitment to secure, compliant, and efficient operations.
Job Responsibilities
Security Responsibilities
- Coordinate all security-related programs and operational reporting systems.
- Maintain and audit databases for TSA, CBP, CBSA, and Master Crew List (MCL).
- Administer and maintain employee identification media (new hires, renewals, replacements, LOAs).
- Lead signatory for DAY airport SIDA; coordinate access for employees.
- Provide Base Coordinators with SIDA access information for crew and maintenance bases.
- Review and process FBI Criminal History Records Checks (CHRC).
- Monitor RAPBACK activity and coordinate appropriate actions.
- Update access for recurrent and upgrade training classes weekly.
- Maintain building access and issue temporary badges for PSA facilities.
- Disseminate Security Directives, TSA Guidance, and related materials.
- Investigate TSA Letters of Investigation and prepare reports for management.
- Support Security and Compliance audits and ensure procedural accuracy.
- Train new department employees on security processes.
- Act as subject matter expert on PSA security programs.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Process and maintain PRIA documentation in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Attend new hire orientation to review PRIA requirements.
- Organize and participate in annual PRIA audits.
- Liaise with other carriers regarding PRIA requests and responses.
- Collaborate with HR to verify and input new hire paperwork.
- Review and improve compliance processes.
- Professionally handle incoming calls from employees and third parties.
- Assist with DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing (random, pre-employment, post-accident).
- Ensure proper documentation and scheduling of drug and alcohol tests.
Safety Management
- Coordinate with the Security and Compliance Auditor for TSA-related investigations.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal stakeholders.
- Assist department leadership with special projects.
- Responsible for the Companys Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Specifics
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of increasingly responsible clerical or aviation-related experience.
- Willingness to collect, handle, and process urine and breath specimens.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain airport SIDA badging.
- Ability to speak/read/write in English.
- If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety, security, or aviation-related discipline or equivalent aviation industry work experience.
- At least two years of experience in aviation administration.
Additional Information
Supervisory Responsibility: This is not a supervisory position.
Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Supervisor of Security and Compliance.
Authorities: None
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
