Job Description

The Foundry Operator 1 will work under general supervision to perform duties that assist the Foundry in preparing for the pouring of metal into molds and in operating or assisting the Vacuum Furnace Operator. The Foundry Operator 1 schedule will be Monday to Thursday, 2:00 am to 12:30 pm.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Heat up ovens and load molds in preparation for pouring, verifying molds against the casting schedule, loading position, and verifying oven temperature and oxygen levels.
  • Use an Everett Saw to cut ingots in preparation for melting.
  • Load and unload molds into the ovens manually or by using ergonomic lifts, lifting hoists, or a mold dolly.
  • Wear PPE to protect from heat.
  • Clean the foundry and invest areas by emptying cans and trash, vacuuming floors and equipment, and cleaning the mold storage area. Assist with cleaning and changing over tanks in the invest department.
  • Ensure proper equipment and materials are available for Foundry workers by daily filling hot top cans, restocking Kaowool pads, changing crucibles as needed, loading cup ovens, and staging empty carts for use.
  • Verify ingots against the pour schedule and load alloy.
  • Operate vacuum cast furnace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Moderate physical effort, including lifting or moving up to 35 lbs of materials, scrap metals, and other additives.
  • Continuous mental or visual attention in operating, checking, and performing related duties.
  • Ability to withstand high temperatures while working in the foundry.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow all safety practices and work in a manner that ensures safety for oneself and others.
  • Ability to perform duties in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to the Foundry Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions, normally acquired by completing high school.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience.

Compensation and Benefits: For informational purposes only, the pay range for this role is $16.00/hr to $24.00/hr (USD) based on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours of paid time off every year, along with 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company&39;s medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
