ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM
As a Graduate in the SITA Security Operations Centre (SOC), you will join a team dedicated to protecting our infrastructure and services from cyber threats. You’ll work alongside experienced analysts, engineers, and incident responders in a high-paced and collaborative environment.
In this role, you will support the day-to-day operations of the SOC, including monitoring security alerts, assisting with triage and escalation of incidents, analyzing suspicious activity, and contributing to investigations. You will also gain hands-on experience with security tools, processes, and industry best practices.
What you will do
- Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM and EDR/XDR tools.
- Assist in the initial triage and classification of potential security incidents.
- Escalate incidents to senior analysts based on severity and impact.
- Conduct basic investigations and support incident response activities.
- Document findings, actions taken, and lessons learned.
- Support the maintenance of SOC documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to improving detection rules and alert tuning under guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support security initiatives.
- Stay up to date with emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
About Your Skills:
- Strong interest in cybersecurity and eagerness to learn.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals and operating systems.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and follow defined processes.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as malware, phishing, and threat actors.
- Basic knowledge of tools like SIEM, firewalls, or endpoint protection (preferred but not required).
- Team player with a proactive and curious attitude.
- Capable of handling sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
- Willingness to work in a shift-based or on-call environment if required.
