Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Middletown, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and hard-working HR Assistant. As a key member of our Human Resources team, the successful individual will provide support to the Human Resources Department by performing a variety of operational tasks in the areas of training, compliance, recruiting, engagement, benefits and other human resources functions for the division.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintains employee training files and recurrent training records; schedules necessary trainings and/or testing
- Maintains proper records of employee attendance and leaves; administers attendance policy per the CBA
- Schedules yearly shoe truck, vision testing, hearing testing, biometric screenings, vaccination clinics, etc.
- Maintains plant TV’s with employee communications both divisional and corporate
- Assists in event planning and employee engagement activities (appreciation awards, holiday parties, luncheons)
- Administers the service awards/milestone program
- Maintains postings for plant area such as compliance postings, job bid postings, divisional and corporate postings
- Assists with scheduling interviews, applicant flow logs, on-boarding and other recruitment activities
- Schedules and conducts new hire orientations and maintains up to date information for orientations
- Maintains office forms; processes NPP’s, PO’s and invoices for HR related items.
- Maintains HR department records, employee personnel data in personnel files and data entry into HRIS.
- Assists department(s) staff with special projects as necessary, or as assigned.
- Contributes to the implementation of HR initiatives and goals
- Provides administrative assistance to EHS supervisor for presentations, meetings, training logs, roundtable meetings
- Performs various office tasks such as typing memos, mailing correspondence, scanning documents, and filing
- Serves as Receptionist: greets and screens visitors; process ID badges; receives, processes and distributes mail; receives payments from retirees and forwards to finance; retrieves and disseminates messages from call-off line; updates phone listings; arranges travel and accommodations and prepares expense reports; ensures reception and meeting areas are presentable, with all necessary materials (forms, pens, brochures, etc.); and provides high level of customer service to external and internal customers
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED is required. Two years or more related experience and/or training. Knowledge of labor laws.
- Time management skills to prioritize and complete a wide variety of tasks throughout the day; Organizational skills to keep accurate records and find important information quickly. Critical thinking and attention to detail
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook. SAP, UKG, Smart-sheets is a plus
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
