Job Summary

The main role of the Information Developer is to develop, maintain and distribute NAV CANADA’s operational communications and publications used nationwide. They will produce Air Traffic Services operational manuals and other publications—in consultation with stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts to create and maintain regulatory content for a variety of audiences while adhering to well-defined design specifications. 
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop high-quality, internal communications and technical documentation for Operational staff.  
  • Use plain language, editorial standards and writing conventions to describe and explain complex technical content. 
  • Apply standards, rules, and authoring guidelines to produce consistent, repeatable, and easy-to-maintain information products 
  • Adhere to established processes to track and manage progress and deliver on-time deliverables. 
  • Use structured authoring tools to maintain document integrity for output to multiple sources. 

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized degree program with specialization in a related field of study. Specialization may be obtained through an equivalent combination of education, training or 5 or more years of relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Experience creating and delivering high quality, on-time technical documentation.  
  • Experience creating and maintaining MS Word styles and templates.
  • Experience authoring in XML with an understanding of cascading style sheets (CSS).
  • Experience editing HTML mark-up.
  • Experience using document management systems such as SharePoint Online.

Knowledge:

  • Information development methodologies and standards. 
  • Structured writing for re-use.
  • Fundamentals of Project management.  

Abilities:

  • Support senior colleagues to implement stakeholder requirements and suggest opportunities for product enhancements and process improvements. 
  • Strong research skills including gathering and organizing information from multiple sources. 
  • Convert complex technical information into plain language. 
  • Recognize information patterns and organize ideas.  
  • Manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Work with minimal supervision both in a team and independently. 
  • Establish rapport and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Working conditions:

  • Occasional domestic travel is required.
