About the role
We want our customers to make the most treasured travel memories. Having trust in our brand and the exceptional experiences we aim to deliver to them every time. Building an awareness in what we can offer is so important. Join our small, friendly and incredibly supportive PR team, to work on PR promotions that build awareness of British Airways Holidays as a leading tour operator. The focus is on holidays here, so you will predominately work with lifestyle, travel and UK consumer press and influencers, giving an opportunity to be creative in your thinking to increase our attractiveness to customers and successfully promote offers and products through the editorial.
As an inhouse role you will be involved in the whole 360. From ideas to delivery and then finally reporting. We work incredibly closely with the Marketing team and our internal stakeholders, so you will really get to understand the business in huge depth. You will be involved in press queries, press trips, idea creation, projects and partner collaborations. Giving a real variety and end to end ownership in the role for a fantastic and well known brand.
You will be a brand Ambassador with a passion and curiosity to bring ideas that we can quickly bring to life. Being able to both quickly react to press questions and proactively bring ideas to the team. You will be an organised individual, able to simultaneously work on several projects, and thrive in an environment where no two days are the same.
What you will be doing
- Lead on drafting and distributing written communications including weekly late deals, tactical offers and adhoc press releases
- Identify proactive or reactive news stories, facilitating a regular drum beat of news to ensure British Airways Holidays is front of mind for media, influencers and consumers
- Lead on the creation and distribution of weekly and quarterly reporting, plus reporting of ad hoc PR campaigns
- Create, build and manage relationships with travel, consumer, features and business journalists in the UK to drive consumer engagement with our brand
- Responsible for the sourcing and administration of flight, hotel and ancillary products (as required) for media trips, influencer activity, events and competitions
What you will bring
- Proven experience in a communications department or PR agency
- A track record of building and executing PR campaigns
- Proven ability to contribute, implement and manage PR programmes and activity
- Strong media relations skills and experience
- Experience in travel PR is desirable, ideally with some press trip organisation and delivery experience
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including creativity and the ability to present work quickly and accurately
- Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder management skills
- Influential, persuasive and credible with excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work with a large workload in a high pressured, fast moving and changing environment and remain calm throughout
- The role will require in person attendance at Waterside (BA head office – near Heathrow) once or twice a month and flexibility to attend evening (e.g. networking) events and for occasional overseas travel to attend/manage press/influencer trips
What we can offer you
Up to £35,000 per annum salary (this may vary depending on your relevant skills and experience)
Our offices are based in central Crawley and we offer hybrid working (within the UK only). Generally, this role works from our offices twice a week, with additional days as needed depending on meetings etc. Office days are co-ordinated so that colleagues in the same team are in the office together to collaborate in person. We usually support new colleagues in the office full time for the first few weeks. There is also an ad hoc requirement to meet at the British Airways head office near Heathrow, and attend networking events and meetings in central London. Some international travel is also required.
