PCC Mason is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Lab Technician to join our Second Shift team.
The Quality Lab Technician will start initially on first shift for training purposes and transition soon afterwards to the Second Shift. Following the successful completion of training, the Quality Lab Technician will be responsible for carrying out regular duties during Second Shift.
The Quality Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting Quality Assurance inspections & evaluations such as measurement gauging, metallography, visual evaluation & mechanical testing on aerospace fasteners to ensure the product meets all required specifications & customer specific requirements.
Duties will also include conducting routine Quality inspections throughout production, including in-process and final inspections. During these inspections, a variety of material characterization equipment & precision measuring tools will be used to ensure that the products follow manufacturing & Quality specifications. Metallurgical test samples will be prepared for all analysis in the lab, as well as evaluating samples for defects and operating mechanical testing machines. Dimensional gaging equipment calibration and performing plant workstation audits will also be done as required.
Applicants should have some manufacturing or machine shop experience. Applicants should demonstrate strong initiative as well as aptitude for mathematics and good mechanical abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform metallographic inspections by use and operation of equipment such as rotary cut off saws, mounting, polishing machines & optical microscopes.
- Perform mechanical & chemical composition testing using equipment such as tensile, fatigue testing machines & composition analyzers.
- Perform quality audits and process control during production runs such as size checks, heat treat evaluations, hardness testing, etc.
- Accurately record and report inspection data in quality management systems (QMS) and production routers.
- Identify and isolate non-conforming parts and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Log incoming production, maintain traceability & maintain records of accepted/rejected products.
- Support Non-destructive Testing and evaluating results.
- Daily calibrations/checks of production & inspection gauges.
- Perform general housekeeping and maintenance functions in the lab.
- Preparation and use of acids/etchants and other chemical solutions for metallurgical inspections.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by manager or quality engineer.

Experience & Education
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a quality inspection role within aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in using and operating metallographic/mechanical testing or gauging equipment preferred.
- Prior experience or skill in visual inspection of high precision products & attention to detail.
- Able to use various analytical equipment, tools and instruments as required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (30) pounds on an intermittent basis.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis.
- Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing, and pulling of materials.
- Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
- Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
- Must be able to wear all the required Personal Protective Equipment.
