Job Description:
The South African subsidiary (AZA) of a world market leader in the helicopter industry, is seeking a dynamic and customer-oriented Support & Services Sales Manager reporting to the Executive Commercial Manager
The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting, selling, and managing aftermarket support and service solutions across our helicopter fleet operating in Southern African region. This role is critical in ensuring customer satisfaction, operational readiness, and the long-term success of our company within the region.
The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following items:
Customer Support Management for key customers
Develop and sell S&S solutions including MRO, spare parts, training, upgrades, technical assistance, and part-by-the-hour (PBH) contracts.
Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with civil, para-publics, and governmental helicopter operators.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers within the customer base
Serve as the primary point of contact for post-delivery support discussions.
Prepare and negotiate service-level agreements and ensure successful execution of contractual obligations
Monitor contract performance and drive continuous improvement
Collaborate closely with internal departments including technical support, logistics, engineering, and finance to deliver integrated service solutions
Work with global support teams and the headquarters as needed
Analyze customer feedback and market trends to support strategic planning and service offering development
Provide insight on competitive positioning and regional support requirements
Understanding of the Aeronautic/ helicopter market, by creating and managing a network of reliable sources through pilots, technicians and all other stakeholders in the industry.
Assist with the compilation of the annual marketing, objectives and strategy and the annual business and marketing plan for sign-off by the Executive Commercial Manager
Liaising with prospects and customers from initial presentation stage through negotiation to contract signature and delivery of the aircraft contractual obligations.
Ensure the yearly helicopter S&S booking, sales and profitability targets are achieved.
Accurately build all commercial proposals and contracts in relation to the allocated customer base and AZA/ Airbus Helicopters procedures.
Conducting negotiations with customers within the constraints of the business and Airbus processes.
Contribution to ensure a successful and the timely delivery of the contractual obligations aircraft to the customer. Supporting in the Coordination and monitoring of all activities in relation to the delivery of the contractual obligations aircraft through regular contract review meetings which should be minuted and managed in accordance with procedures in place.
After delivery to the customer, ensuring customer liaison and interface with AZA Customer Support Managers in order to achieve ultimate customer satisfaction and contract/ customer follow-up throughout the lifespan of the aircraft for the assigned customer base of the market.
Acting proactively towards the AZA competition in the local market/ Market Intelligence
Anticipate tender releases and actively lead tender responses, on time, on cost, on quality, with accurate inputs on what could be competition strategy.
Maintaining of records of all customer proposals, visits and correspondence and validation of the customer visit plan within SF.
Ensuring that SF reflects accurately the fleet of aircraft/owners/operators in the allocated market as well as the AZA region in acting as the AZA “specialist” of the local pre-owned market (what is available, at which price, etc.).
Provide an optimum quality service which is responsive, flexible, cost-efficient and on-time.
Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while ensuring that the company’s financial position is respected, and that compliance with corporate governance and regulatory authority regulations are respected.
Perimeter for actuation is within the Executive Commercial Manager S&S Sales Perimeter
Ensuring helicopter promotion through Air Shows and further creative ideas.
Proven experience in Sales is highly recommended.
This position requires a significant level of travels, not limited to South Africa.
Ethics and Compliance is a mandatory pillar of the candidate profile.
Developing a solid network within Airbus Helicopters mother company is also key.
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Aviation Management or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace aftermarket services, helicopter operations, or aviation support sales.
Strong knowledge of rotary-wing aircraft and associated maintenance practices
Experience in contract negotiation and customer account management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Fluent in English; knowledge of French or local languages is a plus
Willingness to travel across the region.
